China is the home country of tea. Before the Tang Dynasty, Chinese tea was exported by land and sea, first to Japan and Korea, then to India and Central Asia and, in the Ming and Qing dynasties, to Arabian Peninsula. In the early period of the 17th century, Chinese tea was exported to Europe, where the upper class adopted the fashion of drinking tea. Chinese tea, like Chinese silk and china, made an outstanding contribution to the world's material and spiritual civilization.

王玲，女，1937年生，河北曲阳人。1960年毕业于中国人民大学。北京市社会科学院研究员、北京史研究会会长、中国国际茶文化研究会理事。主要从事北京史和中国传统文化的研究，是大型学术专著十卷本《北京通史》的主要组织者之一。著有《中国茶文化》《北京通史•辽代卷》《北京与周围城市关系史》等专著，发表有关中国传统文化和北京史研究方面的论文四十余篇。曾获“五个一工程奖”，并被国务院授予“有突出贡献的专家”称号。
